Sisters Rodeo thrills fans in June
CANCELLED FOR 2020 & 2021 DUE TO COVID-19
The Biggest Little Show in the World is standing down this year — AGAIN — due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite the painful decision, Rodeo President Curt Kallberg is looking forward. He said the Sisters Rodeo will survive and move past the current troubles and come roaring back in 2022 — with another year to prepare for the 80th Biggest Little Show in the World.
Buckin’ broncs and barrel racers! Every year, the best cowboys and cowgirls in rodeo come to Sisters for the fat purses of “The Biggest Little Show in the World!”
Sisters Rodeo has been entertaining rodeo fans for 79 years, with world champion cowboys and cowgirls of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association competing for the biggest purse in the nation in early June. There are several great shows plus an Xtreme Bulls performance at the Sisters Rodeo grounds, three miles southeast of Sisters on Highway 20.
Each performance has a grand entry, team bronc riding, tie-down roping, bareback riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, team roping, bull riding and barrel racing. Xtreme Bulls highlights Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. with nothing but bull riding.
The Sisters Rodeo parade is in downtown Sisters on Cascade Avenue, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The popular parade packs the town with floats, bands, antique cars, exotic animals and equestrian teams along with visiting rodeo queens and courts.
The Kiwanis Buckaroo Breakfast is Sunday at the rodeo grounds from 7 to 11 a.m. There is Cowboy Church at 9 a.m.
The Sisters Rodeo begins with Xtreme Bulls on Wednesday, then continues with full rodeo action Friday through Sunday.
